How do web trackers work?

Web trackers require two modifications:

1) Add code into the destination page
2) Modify links in your email.

1) Add the following code into the destination web page you are tracking.  Insert this into the HTML, right before the </BODY> tag.

2) In your email, wherever you have a link to the above destination page, modify the link by appending the following:

?TID=xyz&UID=userID

You can optionally track unique visitors, by replacing the "userID" in the above link with a unique value for each recipient.  This can be their email address, or any other unique value.

Example:
Suppose the destination page you want to track is located at:

http://www.mycompany.com/product123.html

In your email, you would modify any hyperlinks to this page so they would be:

http://www.mycompany.com/product123.html?TID=xyz&UID=userID

The image or text of your hyperlink itself does not have to change, just the hyperlink address needs to change.
